Adélie penguins

Adélie penguins were named in 1930 by the French adventurer Jules Dumont d'Urville for his wife Adélie.

The penguins are 46 to 75 cm long and 3.9 to 5.8 kg in weight. They are recognized by the white ring surrounding the eye. Guys and females are of comparable size and troublesome to distinguish one from the other.

Adélie penguins lay one or two eggs, every weighing 100g to125g (about 2.6% the female form mass). The eggs are hatched diversely by every guardian for a time of 30-40 days. This short hatching period (in connection with that of Gentoo or Chinstrap penguins) is because of the short Antarctic summer.

Prefer all penguins, the Adélie is quite social, searching and settling in aggregations. They are likewise truly domineering to different penguins that take stones from their home.
